2015 Awards Honor Central Coast Organizations That Help Others
It has been five years since the Caroline Huetter Foundation was established in memory of a daughter, sister and true friend. Over the years we have honored individuals for their efforts in making a difference and making the Central Coast a friendly, more community-oriented place.
This year, the Foundation has elected to financially support other organizations in the Central Coast that further Caroline’s interests, causes and attitudes. The selected recipients of The Caroline Huetter Foundation awards for 2015 are:
- Achievement House, helping developmentally delayed citizens enter the workplace
- Central Coast Jazz Institute, training local young people in America’s music
- El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO), assisting the homeless to attain self-sufficiency by providing meals, case management, resources and shelter
- RISE, providing intervention and treatment services for domestic and sexual abuse
- San Luis Obispo County Food Bank, working locally to prevent hunger
- Woods Humane Society, a no-kill shelter for adoptable animals
In prior years, five young people have been recognized and rewarded with amounts up to $1000 with no restrictions on use of funds.
The previous year’s award winners are:
- Ryan Page of Arroyo Grande, for actively promoting tolerance
- Madison Womack of Atascadero, for reaching out to those suffering personal loss or illness
- Cameron Holt of Paso Robles, for founding SAVE–an anti-bullying movement in schools
